NEWS: Imran follows the footsteps of uncle Aamir

Actor Imran Khan is following in the footsteps of his uncle Aamir Khan and pasting posters of his new film "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola" on taxis.
Imran recounts the similarity between his way and what Aamir once did.
"Twenty four years ago Aamir uncle pasted the posters of his film 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak'. I remember him telling the story that he and my mother were roaming around the by-lanes of Bandra and seeking the permission of rickshaw drivers to paste the posters of his film and telling them that he is the hero of the film," the 29-year-old said here Monday while promoting the film.
"Flash forward 24 years and I find myself doing the same thing. Actually in our city public transport is the most important thing whether it is rickshaw, taxis or buses, it has always been the lifeline of the city. I think it is the easiest way to communicate and reach out to the people," he added.
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola" also features Anushka Sharma, Pankaj Kapur and Shabana Azmi. It hits theatres Jan 11.

NEWS: 'Oh My God' sequel will be fresh story

Director Umesh Shukla, whose debut film "Oh My God" earned rave reviews, says they have almost finalised the script of the sequel, which will have a completely fresh story.
"We have zeroed on a script but we still have to work on that. We will finalise the things in next three to four days," Shukla said.
"It will be a different story altogether. It will be a story that will talk about religion and other issues. It will be a spicy film but an eye-opener. However this will be a fresh film and not a continuation from 'Oh My God'," he added.
"Oh My God" was co-produced by Ashvini Yardi, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, with the two actors playing prominent roles in the film.
Asked if Akshay will be part of the new project too, Shukla said: "Yes, Akshay will be part of the sequel, in fact he is part of our team. We will have to see Akshay's dates but it's too early to think about that. In the first place we have to finalise the script."
Paresh too is in no hurry to encash on the success of the film.
"We have identified one or two ideas but let's see. We must look at the script. We are not in a hurry to encash the popularity or the success of it. I feel if I have to make a sequel then it should be like 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai'," said the veteran actor.

NEWS: At 53, Anil Kapoor wants six-pack

He has just turned 53, and he wants to work towards a six-pack physique. And as he gets older, he says wants to keep his eating habits in check and be as positive as the Dalai Lama.
"I never had a paunch. But regrettably I never had a six-pack either. Hopefully with my son's help, I'll get there too. In the meanwhile, I've lost a lot more weight recently for (TV show) '24'. I am more agile and flexible and leaner. I've lost six kgs," said Anil, who celebrated his birthday Monday.
He is content that he has spent many years of life working hard.
"I try my best to do the right thing. Age is just a number. Staying healthy and fit is just a matter of discipline. Recently, I had the good fortune of meeting the Dalai Lama. I felt so cleansed! Just listening to him is such an enriching experience.
"What he said was, 'how you feel and choose to live are all up to you. If you lie to yourself and to others, you're bound to be unhealthy'. Look how radiant the Dalai Lama looks. I'd love to look as radiant when I reach his age. Positivity has always been my mantra for existence," added the actor.
Anil, who has three children - daughters Sonam and Rhea, and son Harshvardhan, is careful about his eating habits.
"I never touch the samosas. But I love the upper-crust. I don't have the filling. People say I look like a samosa without the filling. I've worked to stay slim. I've never been a red meat eater. I eat frugally and carefully. But I do indulge myself.
"There's nothing I haven't done in my life. I can gorge on forbidden food any time. But I admit I make a lot of culinary sacrifices. One has to give up some pleasures to achieve what one wants to," he said.
Anil, who started his Bollywood career in 1979 with a supporting role in "Humare Tumhare", went on to make his mark in films with projects like "Mashaal", "Karma", "Chameli Ki Shaadi", "Tezaab", "Ram Lakhan", "Mr.India" and "Lamhe".
He has also featured in international projects like TV series "24" and had a role to play in "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol". Anil is also into film production.
He admits he has never shied away from hard work.
"It seems like I've been working all my life. And that's the way I like it. I've always gone by instinct. For example,. I was offered television in the west, with big money. But I seriously wasn't tempted. Come to think of it, I've always wondered why others get big money, while I've to work my a** off to make a decent living.
"Nothing has come easy to me. I've slogged for everything I've got. And that's the way I want it," he added.
Anil welcomed the struggle that comes with success.
"I never wanted anything to come easily to me. It's not hard work. It's working to my optimum capacity. When I see people like Tom Cruise and Amitabh Bachchan saheb, I feel I don't work hard at all.
"When I see Salman Khan and how hard he works on his body, I want to work harder on my body. Look at how hard Hrithik (Roshan) and Ranbir (Kapoor) work," he said.

Hundreds of fans of Bollywood actor Salman Khan turned up at the Bandra court Thursday to catch a glimpse of their favourite star who was summoned by a Magistrate for his involvement in a hit and run case.

Most people waited patiently in the compound of the court to see the actor.

Salman was asked to appear before a Metropolitan Magistrate on a complaint that he had allegedly delayed the trial in connivance with police.
A strong posse of policemen guarded the court and its precincts and did not allow Salman's fans to go upto court number 9, which is located on the first floor of the building in suburban Bandra.

Many fans of the actor stood on the bridge overlooking the court building while others waited at the two entrances apparently to say best of luck to the "Dabangg" hero.

The actor, however, did not come to the court although his two sisters Alvira and Arpita were spotted alongwith lawyer Dipesh Mehta.

Ahmed Patel, a diehard fan of Salman, told news agency that he was from Gujarat and had come here to meet his relatives. As he had read in newspapers that Salman was summoned today by the court he had come to meet the actor.

Raju Mehta, another fan of Salman, said he arrived at the court at 10 AM to get a vantage seat so that he could see the proceedings from a close distance. "I will come again on January 30 when the matter would be heard again," he said.

NEWS: Nobody has the right to rape me, says Priyanka Chopra

Actor Priyanka Chopra, who was in Delhi on Tuesday, has spoken strongly about the brutal gangrape in Delhi that has shamed the country. Addressing the media at an event, where she was to launch a website to aid adolescent girls, Priyanka Chopra asked for the strictest punishment for the offenders while urging girls to learn to protect themselves. “It’s a heinous crime. Culprits should be given stringent punishment. As an Indian I feel ashamed of it. I’m in full support of peaceful protests and I think this will make a difference. It’s time for all of us to come together and make a change and not just forget about it in a few days,” she said.
So, does she think the culprits should be given death penalty? “I do believe in severe punishment. But it is not a decision that a single person can take, it is something that needs to be debated,” she added The actor-singer took the opportunity to lash-out against the lot who blame women for provoking men.  “A lot of people have said that girls wear provocative clothes or go out at night and drink, which prompts men to take advantage of them. Some even hold Bollywood songs responsible for it. But the only thing responsible for a woman getting raped is a man’s mindset. There is no other reason for it. I could be walking naked, but you still don’t have the right to rape me,” she pointed out.
The actor however suggests that women must learn to protect themselves: “Girls should go out in groups and make sure they carry pepper spray or something with which they can protect themselves with. Mothers should also teach their sons to respect a woman rather than telling their daughters to not wear this or that. That is the world we need. Meanwhile, girls should protect themselves.”
The 30-year-old actor, who’s UNICEF’s Goodwill Ambassador, thinks that it is heart-warming that several young Bollywood actors  have come out strongly against the rape.“Celebrities have the power to draw attention of the masses to an issue, since people listen to us. And I think it is my social responsibility as a celebrity to use the platform that I have to create awareness,” she said.
Other Bollywood actors on the Delhi gangrape case:

Deepika Padukone, actor: It is high time we did something about stopping such crimes. The rules and laws should be a lot more strict and action needs to be taken, much faster.
Sonakshi Sinha, actor: But what’s the point if the trial goes on for 10 long years ... rape calls for immediate death ... set an example, sow the fear. There’s nothing worse you can do to a woman
Shahid Kapoor, actor: We will talk about this for a few days and move on .... Is this who we are or who we have become ...If we cannot make every woman feel safe in this country #WEFAIL

NEWS: Soon Ranbir might cross my record: Kareena

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, who has won as many as six Filmfare awards, feels her cousin Ranbir is giving her tough competition and may soon break her record -- but she adds that it would be a big moment for her.
"Since I was a child, I always thought I will win a Filmfare and give an acceptance speech, where I will thank my mother, father and family. My Filmfare trophies will follow me till my grave. Hopefully, not only six but many more," said Kareena.
"But I have a very tough competition in my own family now. You never know, soon Ranbir might cross my record and that of my grandfather. But that would surely be a very joyous moment for our family," added the 32-year-old.
While Kareena has six Filmfare trophies in her kitty, Ranbir has four and their grandfather, the legendary actor Raj Kapoor had won 11 Filmfare awards.
The newly-wed was speaking here at the 58th Idea Filmfare Awards 2012 press conference Tuesday.
The award-giving ceremony is scheduled for Jan 20 next year at the Yash Raj Films (YRF) studios in Mumbai.
The fact that she belongs to the Kapoor family does put pressure on her.
"The pressures are obviously there because there are so many names associated with it. But we are all taking it forward in our own way. Earlier it was me and Karisma, but I am so glad that finally there is a man in the family (Ranbir)," said Kareena.
This year the actress had four releases -- "Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu", "Agent Vinod", "Heroine", and "Talaash". Besides that she has done item number "Fevicol se" in Salman Khan's film "Dabangg 2", releasing Friday

NEWS: 'Dabangg 2' - double dose of action, comedy,

After breaking box-office records with "Dabangg", actor Salman Khan is ready to entertain audiences in his popular avatar of Chulbul Pandey in "Dabangg 2", which releases this Friday.
"Dabangg" was set in a village and had the rustic, rural flavour of Uttar Pradesh. The story this time around will shift to a posh metropolitan city.
The sequel will see Chulbul Pandey to be transferred to a city, where he will mingle with the elite, but will retain his simplistic flavour and values. "Dabangg" having been a blockbuster, the buzz around the sequel is high too.
The original movie was directed by Abhinav Kashyap, but he opted out of the sequel due to some issues, following which Salman's brother and producer Arbaaz Khan jumped in as the director.
Made under the banner of Arbaaz Khan Productions, "Dabangg 2" has been written by Dilip Shukla. This will be Arbaaz's first film as a director.
The film will see Salman and Sonakshi Sinha again reprising their roles of Chulbul Pandey and Rajjo, while Vinod Khanna will feature as Prajapati Pandey, and Arbaaz as Makhanchan Pandey.
"Dabangg" proved to a turning point of actor Sonu Sood's career, who played the main antagonist Chhedi Singh. Initially he was a part of the sequel too, but had to opt out because of date issues.
Now, Prakash Raj has been roped in to play the antagonist. Made at a budget of approximately Rs.50 crore, the film is likely to release in over 3,000 screens.
The songs of "Dabangg 2" have also become popular, generating more interest in the film. While "Dabangg" had Malaika Arora Khan's "Munni badnam hui", "Dabangg 2" features actress Kareena Kapoor in item song "Fevicol Se", which is ruling the music charts already.
Since the release of "Dabangg" in 2010, the movie and Chulbul Pandey have become a brand. Whether the sequel will be able to create the same magic as "Dabangg" remains to be seen.
After the release of Shah Rukh Khan's "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" and Aamir Khan's "Talaash", both of which earned big bucks at the box-office, it would be interesting to see how "Dabangg 2" does at the box-office and which Khan takes the top slot.
