Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor to star in ’Gunday’

Actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, who will be teaming up for Yash Raj Films next project titled "Gunday", will be seen playing the role of thieves in the film.

To be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar of "Mere Brother ki Dulhan" fame, the film is produced by Aditya Chopra and will be set in '70s Kolkata.

"Amidst the most turbulent times in the history of Kolkata, then Calcutta, from 1971 to 1988, Bikram and Bala rose from being small time wagon breakers and coal thieves to becoming the biggest and most powerful black marketing mafia men," a press release issued by Yash Raj Films said.

"A rare combination of vigour and wit, the duo were inseparable and the city of Calcutta swore by their friendship, as their notoriety became the stuff of legends. The People of this sprawling city started calling these two carefree rebels--'Gunday'," it added.

Both Ranveer and Arjun started their career in Bollywood with YRF movies- "Band Baaja Baarat" (2010) and "Ishaqzaade" (2012) respectively and both these films did quite well at the box office.

This is both Ranveer and Arjun's third film with the banner and the first time that these two powerful performers have come together.

The leading lady, who plays a pivotal role in the film, is yet to be cast and will be announced shortly.

The film will go on floor this December.

Ranveer Singh denies Salman Khan Twitter attack

B-town contender for the prince charming crown Ranveer Singh has rubbished reports of his comment on  B-town macho man ultra success 'Ek Tha Tiger'.

Ranveer has denied the comment on twitter which said, "While I was passing through a multiplex people after seeing Ek Tha Tiger, I was asking for Tiger Baam," Ranveer spokesperson has called the tweet completely incorrect and baseless.

According to Ranveer the tweet being referred to is of an impersonator and not of Ranveer.
According to the official management Ranveer is on twitter and his twitter handle is @RanveerOfficial, he has never tweeted till date.

His intention of being on twitter is to be able to interact with his friends and read what they are tweeting.

The 26-year-old actor, who has been the focus of constant media speculation since he launched his career, says his life changed overnight after the success of Band Baaja Baaraat

It was recently announced that Singh has been cast in Yash Raj's next film with Arjun Kapoor.

Shahid Kapoor opts out of Maneesh Sharma's upcoming film with YRF

The start of Maneesh Sharma’s next directorial untitled film has been postponed. The film was originally scheduled to go on floor this September.

Both Maneesh and Jaideep Sahni, who has written the story and screenplay, along with Aditya Chopra, have taken a creative decision to include lip-sync songs, which were earlier not part of the film.

The unfortunate fallout of this is that Shahid Kapoor, who was to play the lead, has had to pull out because of his other commitments. With three other projects back to back, Shahid is not able to readjust his dates to accommodate the revised schedule.

Maneesh, speaking on behalf of both Jaideep and himself, said: “Both Jaideep and I have decided to bring in a couple of lip-sync songs which will need to be recorded before we can go on floor. However, it is sad that Shahid has understandably had to opt out because of this delay given his packed schedule going forward.”

While this development is a pity, YRF looks forward to working with Shahid Kapoor on another project being discussed with him for next year.

Please await further details on the shooting schedule for Maneesh Sharma’s film.

THE BILZ & KASHIF RETURN WITH THEIR BRAND NEW SINGLE - JUMP

The Bilz & Kashif return with their brand new single – Jump from their highly anticipated album – The Trinity. The single will be released worldwide accompanied by the video on August 20th 2012.  This brand new album is the follow up after Breaking Barriers entered the charts at #6 on iTunes. The Trinity represent a big movement for the three pioneers in the group made up of Vicious, Master-D & Kashif and they wish to make a bold statement with this brand new single. The 1st single from The Trinity album is entitled “Jump” and is a new sound they call Power Soca. “It all started from us touring the world and doing a lot of shows in the Caribbean” states Vicious from the group. “We noticed a whole new audience that came in massive attendance to our shows in cities like Suriname, Trinidad and Guyana. We were so touched by our new fans and they’re style of music that it totally influenced us in the studio” says Master-D.

Jump represents something new for the industry as everything nowadays has the same repetitive electro formula. The Bilz & Kashif are known to always raise the bar and release masterpieces that influence their passion for music. The single has already entered the Holland charts right aboveBeyonceTrey Songz and David Guetta on the #1 Urban Station Fun-X. While the European fans demand for more, the single has also been added to the world’s hottest radio station in Trinidad, Bacchanal Radio, and in the US on DJ Bijal’s Everywhere Radio“We do it because we love what we do. I don’t even bother listening to the radio anymore because they just keep saturating the sound. I wanted something fresh for our album” says Kashif.

The group decided to hook up with new producers and lyricists to help carve this classic album and that’s when they landed a demo track from Island producer, Riddim Souljah“He sent me a skeleton track, and I was totally vibing to it. So I told him to come in for a meeting and he made me hear more and I knew the boys would be excited about this new sound” says Vicious. That led them to a studio session turning “Jump” into a Soca meets house anthem instantly. They then hooked up with super video producer PeeZee from SKP Filmz. “Peezee had such a busy schedule as he was in LA shooting a music video for YMCMB’s artist – Glasses Malone, but we put him on the next flight and went over the top for this video” mentions Vicious,“That’s why you won’t even see a preview, you’ll have to wait until August 20th!”

Their brand new single & video – Jump will be available for download on iTunes and all major digital outlets on August 20th.  For more details please visit Bilz Music today, or add them on FacebookTwitter and YouTube.

Shah Rukh compliments Salman Khan

They may not be on talking terms but Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan doesn't shy away from heaping praise on arch-rival Salman Khan. And this time it is for Salman's forthcoming film "Ek Tha Tiger".
Asked what does he have to say about Salman and Katrina Kaif's chemistry in the film, Shah Rukh said: "It is very nice they have done few movies together. I think chemistry is a too deeper word... media has created it. Kajol and I always had this issue, 'what is this chemistry?' It has taken me years to understand what this means."
However, Shah Rukh added that Salman-Katrina look wonderful together and even wished them luck for their film.
"I don't know about the chemistry but it looks like a wonderful pair. I wish them all the luck," he said said during a TAG Heuer event.
The actor has completed a decade as the brand ambassador of the watch brand.
After Salman, Katrina will be seen with Shah Rukh in an untitled project directed by Yash Chopra. The film also features Anushka Sharma.

“DOSTANA 2 WILL HAPPEN” – KARAN JOHAR

BY: SUNNY MALIK @sunnymalik

Karan Johar has spoken about Tarun Mansukhani’s much awaited and delayed Dostana 2 during a recent visit to Britain.
Johar, who runs Dharma Productions, was reportedly unhappy with the way Dostana 2 was shaping up and reports suggested that the project was shelved.
Speaking to Bollywood reporter Sunny Malik about filming in the UK, the producer said: “Well, nothing has come up. Dostana 2 had but we are still structuring that.”
While Abhishek Bachchan told us that the sequel of the hit film also starring John Abraham will not be filmed in London locations, Karan confirmed the same: “It will not be shot in London anymore that is for sure. It is happening but it may not be in London at all. It depends on filmmaker to filmmaker and subject to subject and what brings us next here. Right now, there is no film on the cards. But you never know, I love the city so much that I might develop something and I will hopefully bring a film.”
“I know Ayan Mukherji’s film with Ranbir and Deepika, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which I am producing is now going to be shot in Paris and not in London,” added the filmmaker.
Karan Johar is now gearing up for the release of his next directorial Student of the Year starring Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan.

Katrina Kaif to feature in Rajneeti 2?

Actress Katrina Kaif, who won critical acclaim for her performance in Prakash Jha's Rajneeti, is likely to feature in its second edition as well.
Director-producer Prakash Jha has already announced plans of making a sequel to the hit 2010 political thriller.
In Rajneeti, Katrina played the role of Indu, who was shown to be reluctantly drawn into the murky world of politics after her husband, Prithvi (played by Arjun Rampal), is killed. At the end of the film, the widowed Indu was shown to be pregnant.
"I did hear the idea about sequel from Prakashji, I think it was brilliant. The only thing is that most of the characters from the first film have been killed, so he has to set up whole thing again. The story line, the idea that he told me about Rajneeti 2 is amazing and I hope everything comes on properly," Katrina said in an interview last night.
"I think he is busy with another film Satyagrah. If something really falls in place then it is good because I genuinely feel it is a good idea. It is something that excited me. I hope things fall in place," she said.
In Rajneeti the characters played by Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpayee, Naseeruddin Shah, Arjun Rampal and Sarah Thompson die on screen. However, there are chances that Nana Patekar might return in its sequel.
But Ranbir Kapoor is not likely to be the part of the second instalment as he reportedly decided to drop out of the film because his schedule is packed with other plum assignments.
Is the Rajneeeti sequel going to be women-oriented?
"I don't know as he (Jha) has given me one line brief about it. He has not called me for full script as he is working on two films - Chakravyuh andSatyagrah."
When asked if she intended to do a serious film like Rajneeti, the 28-year-old actress said, "It is not a serious film. If another good film like that comes to me I will do it. Rajneeti is a script (that) has been worked upon over time, like a lot of time was spent on research".
Katrina is gearing up for the Independence Day release of Ek Tha Tigeropposite ex-beau Salman Khan whom she had recommended to director Kabir Khan for the film.
"Kabir is dear friend of mine. We did New York in 2009. He spoke to me about Ek Tha Tiger after New York was released. I liked his idea of and told him I will do it. When I was performing at a function Kabir told me that he wanted to meet Salman considering that I know him in person," she said.
"I told Kabir that he must meet Salman and talk about the idea as he liked his work earlier. So I asked him to try his luck with Salman, but I was not sure whether he will do the film or not," the 28-year-old said.
Katrina said she was "overjoyed" when Salman came on board for the romantic-action-thriller Ek Tha Tiger.
"When I got to know that Salman has signed the film, I was very happy. To get a good person to act...best person like him to act for this film....so in that way I was happy for Kabir," she added.

Youth ready to watch people like me on TV: Sunny Leone

She has no regrets for what she does, and knows her work as a porn star goes against Indian culture. But Sunny Leone says its because the country's younger generation is willing to accept all kinds of people that she has been able to make inroads into the Hindi film industry.
"I did not think that people will like me because of my background, like what I do for my living in the US. I was not sure if it would be accepted here," Sunny, who has made her Bollywood debut with erotic thriller "Jism 2",said.
What set the ball rolling for the 31-year-old, Indo-Canadian adult star here was her participation in reality show "Bigg Boss 5". She received the offer for "Jism 2" via acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, and the spotlight has been on her ever since.
Sunny, who was named among top 12 porn stars of the world by Maxim magazine in 2010, says the prejudices for people in her profession seem to be diminishing in the minds of the youth.
"I think the young generation of people are ready to see someone like me on TV. Otherwise I would not be here. I think one should live life the way they want regardless of what people think about you," she added.
"Jism 2", which released Friday, has proved to be beyond just a bold attempt to show skin and sex. Sunny, who is paired with Arunoday Singh and Randeep Hooda in the movie, says she had fallen in love with its script.
"It's been almost 12 years or so... I have done everything under the sun, did everything that is wrong as per Indian culture. (For 'Jism 2'), I fell in love with the story. I loved reading it again and again, and this film will always be special for me," she added.
Sunny is now expected to start shooting for Ekta Kapoor's "Ragini MMS 2" towards the end of 2012.

'Ek Tha Tiger' will sustain on content: Kabir Khan

Filmmaker Kabir Khan says Salman Khan's presence in "Ek Tha Tiger" will bring in the initial footfalls, but the film's content and direction will sustain it thereafter.
"I feel the film has stamina to run for a very long time. I hope the film goes way beyond the opening which is dependent on Salman. After that it is me and the film that I have made. I feel it has the strength to go a long way," Kabir said.
"Ek Tha Tiger", releasing Aug 15, is his third directorial venture after "Kabul Express" and "New York". The movie, in which Salman plays a spy, also features his former lady love Katrina Kaif, making it one of the much-awaited films of the year.
The first look of the film was also widely appreciated. The buzz has led several multiplexes to cash in on its popularity by reportedly hiking ticket prices 10-15 percent.
But there's little that the director can do.
"That is not something that I can dictate to the multiplexes. They have said it is a standard practice they follow. When they feel a film is much-anticipated and is running during a holiday period or a festive period, they tend to mark up the price," Kabir said.
"Apparently, some time back (ticket) prices had been brought down, so the 15 percent mark up is just bringing it back to what it was three to four months back.
"So I don't think it is pumped up as much as it was done for some films a couple of years back."

I'm stylish, not sexy: Sonam Kapoor

Bollywood fashionista Sonam Kapoor says she is considered stylish, but she doesn't think she is sexy.
"I have only been called stylish till now. I can only say that there is a lot of time before I become sexy," the 27-year-old said.
She says its important for every person to show different facets of their personality one by one.
"I think we shouldn't open all our cards at once, somethings should be kept under wraps. So, one thing at a time," she added.
Sonam, who is set to go de-glam in "Raanjhna", says while many believe she is experimental with her looks, she has donned a simple avatar in most of her films so far.
"Actually, in none of my movies, except for 'Aisha' I have been extremely stylish. In this movie ( 'Raanjhna) it is a little more simpler. This is actually my third movie where I haven't worn make-up, I am just wearing simple cotton clothes," said Sonam.
"It is just that people tend to remember 'Aisha' and 'I Hate Luv Storys' as my last really stylish movies. This ('Raanjhna') is very simple. It's fun. I don't have to think about my make-up or hair. I just shower and go on the sets, which is amazing," added Sonam, who features opposite southern star Dhanush in the movie.
"Raanjhna" features Sonam in the role of a Delhi girl. She is also busy with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag."

Anushka Sharma quiet about her film with Ranbir Kapoor

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma says she is looking forward to working with director Anurag Kashyap, but is not willing to talk about whether she is a part of his film "Bombay Velvet" or not.
Asked if she has signed the film, Anushka said: "I can't talk about it till its confirmed. The announcement will come at the right time. I am looking forward to working with Anurag Kashyap."
The movie is said to be based on Mumbai Fables, a semi-fictional study of Bombay in the 1960s by Gyan Prakash, who is a historian and professor of history at Princeton University.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor has been finalised to play the male lead in the film.
Meanwhile, Anushka will be seen in Vishal Bharadwaj's "Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola", opposite Imran Khan.
"I have completed shooting for the film. I was very happy to work with Vishal Bharadwaj. He makes very different and true films," she said.
"All the characters are very well-written. Each character has a well defined beginning and end in the story," added the 24-year-old.
The movie is likely to release next year.

Can't compare myself with Bipasha: Esha Gupta

After "Jannat 2", actress Esha Gupta is gearing up for the release of her second film "Raaz 3", with Bipasha Basu as her co-star. She isn't worried about the latter's presence and is confident about carving a niche for herself.
"I am pretty confident and I know where I am today. I don't want to compare myself with Bipasha. Even when we are sharing screen space, the only thing that I make sure is that I don't lack anywhere," Esha said.
Directed by Vikram Bhatt, the film also features Emraan Hashmi in a prominent role.
Esha, who made her debut with "Jannat 2", admits sharing screen space with established actors like Emraan and Bipasha did put some pressure on her.
"I had pressure on me as Bipasha and Emraan are great actors but apart from that I didn't care so much because Bipasha is Bipasha and the whole country recognises her. I still get shocked when people start recognising me," she said.
"For me, it ('Raaz 3') was one of the best films to work in," she said and added that other perks were collaborating with Vikram Bhatt, being part of a big franchise like "Raaz" and also working for producers - Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt.
"It was a conscious effort to do this. Of course, I had pressure as I was not sure whether I will be able to pull it," she added.
She is not shying away from taking risks by doing different kind of roles.
"Honestly right now I am going for different kind of characters. It doesn't matter whether it's a big role or small role. For me, everything is a risk because if I don't take a risk, where will I reach? It's not about playing safe. Among all the options that I got, this was one of the best," she said.

'Dabangg 2' will have Christmas release

This Christmas Chulbul Pandey will return at the Bollywood box office in the much-awaited sequel to 2010 blockbuster "Dabangg". It will be ready for release Dec 21.
"Well for all the Chulbul Pandey fans... 'Dabangg 2' is almost 60 percent complete. We resume shoot after the promotion and release of 'Ek Tha Tiger'," tweeted Arbaaz Khan who is making his directorial debut with "Dabangg 2".
"'Dabangg 2' is slated for an end of the year Christmas release... 21st Dec 2012," he added.
The film will take the story forward with Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha reprising their roles from the first movie.

Shah Rukh Khan to play Army man again?

For filmmaker Yash Chopra’s yet-untitled directorial comeback, Shah Rukh Khan will once again play the character of an army offer. The actor was seen in uniform in the director’s last film, Veer Zaara (2004), where he played an air force officer. About his latest outing, an insider close to
the development of the project reveals, “There is a war sequence either between India and Pakistan or India and China that they are going to shoot in Ladakh with Shah Rukh.”

This would be the actor’s fourth stint as an army office. Shah Rukh started his career by playing an army officer in the hit TV series Fauji (1988). He later wore the uniform in Main Hoon Na (2004) and Veer-Zaara.

The makers are now also leaving on August 20 for a schedule in Ladakh and Kashmir. “It’s an eight-day schedule,” adds the source.

What is interesting though is that the makers also had to shoot a small sequence in Switzerland, but now will film it in Kashmir itself.

“A small sequence between Shah Rukh and Katrina will be shot in Kashmir,” says the insider.

The film also stars Anushka Sharma and will hit theatres during Diwali in November.

SRK plans to buy a Kolkata hockey team

Kolkata, Aug 3: After cricket, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly expressed interest in buying a hockey club from Kolkata for the Hockey India League (HIL), scheduled to be held in January next year.
For many quarters, Khan's interest could do enough in injecting a fresh life into the poor hockey infrastructure in the city. Kolkata is yet to have an astroturf for holding competitive hockey matches and could not participate in national hockey leagues in the past for this reason. Even smaller cities like Ranchi and Guwahati in eastern India are developed in this regard. But SRK's has given a firm proposal to Hockey India after the latter decided that a team from eastern zone will take place in the HIL next year.
SRK, the brand ambassador of Bengal, has said that he can buy a hockey team for the HIL but it has to be from Kolkata. Such a proposal has boosted the Bengal Hockey Association (BHA), who thinks that it will help the hockey infrastructure in the state to improve. They hope that if SRK's proposal indeed sees the light of the day, the poor hockeyinfrastructure in Bengal will change for the better.
BHA sources said Hockey India officials asked them whether they can arrange for temporary floodlights at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) complex in Kolkata. The astroturf at the SAI complex in Salt Lake is the only hope for staging HIL matches in the city. However, BHA's concern is the lack of interest about hockey at the government level. Can SRK's proposal help Bengal's dying hockey culture to come alive?
Last month, IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla, BJP leader Arun Jaitley and media personality Rajat Sharma were named as board members of the HIL. Auctioning of players for the HIL is scheduled in September. The Sahara Group has acquired the Lucknow franchise while Jaypee Group has taken over the Punjabfranchise. Total six franchises will be selected from 12 cities that have hockey infrastructure and facilities. The 33-match-series will be broadcast on ESPN Star Sports.

I've not yet signed 'Phata Poster Nikla Hero': Shahid

Actor Shahid Kapoor says he is yet to give the nod to Rajkumar Santoshi's film "Phata Poster Nikla Hero".
"Me and Raj (Rajkumar Santoshi) have met, but I haven't signed the film as of now," the 31-year-old said here Wednesday on the sidelines of an event organised by Dulux paints.
Last seen in "Teri Meri Kahaani", Shahid is now looking forward to his new projects.
"There are three films which I have signed. One is with Maneesh Sharma which I start in August and finish by November. There's a film with Prabhu Deva, which will start at some point next year around February because he is doing another film right now.
"And there is a film with Bejoy Nambiar which will also start next year," he said.
After completing the shooting for "Teri Meri Kahaani", Shahid had confessed he was unemployed. But he now says he is keen to do more work.
"There are various other films that I have been considering because I have decided to do more work because I have been told that I work very little and I feel it myself too. I have not kind of had anything in the last four months," said Shahid.

The Revolution unfolds: Step Up Revolution MOVIE REVIEW

Step Up Revolution, the fourth installment of the unmatchable series of Step Up, has taken the
challenge of making a revolution with their art form. ‘The Mob’ is a full equipped dance troupe
set up in Miami with their very own DJ (Cleopatra Coleman), hacker-planner (Misha Hamilton),
dancer/special effects guy (Stephen Boss) and street artist who "tags" each of their events
with "The Mob" (Michael Langebeck). Sean played by Ryan Guzman is the hero of this group as
he initiates the dance revolution. Emily (Kathryn McCormick), who wants to be a dancer lands
up in The Mob and directs the troupe to make a statement through dance.

The film kick starts with a racy chord as they catch the attention of the audiences from the very
opening sequence. In the first dance piece, the troupe has incorporated many dance forms
including hip hop, b-boying, popping, locking and even some quick twerking. The chemistry of
the romantic lead, Ryan Guzman and Kathryn McCormick is amazing and all their sequences
together light up the screen. The dance sequences keep the audiences excited and make a
perfect watch, the credit for which goes to the well choreographed moves.

The long shots in the dance sequences make optimum use of the 3D view, as they appear to be
more crisp and precise. Each time, ‘The Mob’ enters, they set the screen on fire.

So there’s dance, there’s love; there’s friendship and many more ingredients that make a movie
entertaining. And, Step Up Revolution does enchant the audiences enough to keep them in the groove.
